The ancient city of Katsina will be agog tomorrow Saturday the 25th of May 2024 as all road leads to the prestigious Umaru Musa 'Yar'adua University Katsina where the immediate past governor of the state,Rt. Hon Aminu Bello Masari would be awarded a doctorate degree by the university. Masari was the governor of the state from 2015-2023.

The former governor will surely be remembered by the young promising university and the people of the state for his role in aiding its growth. During his time the university has witnessed tremendous growth in the number of increased students population, staff, courses and infrastructure development. The former governor has during his time aided the growth of both basic and tertiary education. He put on some  deliberate policies that put the state on the path of education revival

At the National level we could vividly recall his efforts in the sustenance of democratic rule in the country. His patriotic effort  when he was the speaker of the national assembly in scuttling former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo  third term agenda is still fresh in our memories. Since the scuttling of that dangerous and self serving move move, RT . Masari continue to be at the forefront of entrenching democratic role in the country.

Similarly the ex- governor withstand all forces of threat and intimidation to play a leading role in the formation of the ruling All Progressive Congress ( APC) it's formation ends the 16 years of PDP rule in the country. Just like the proverbial Cicero in the Shakespeare play Masari continue to provide guide and wisdom to the party.

When he was the governor of katsina state his party the APC enjoyed dominance as the majority party in the state. The party then had three senators, 15 house of representatives members and 34 members of the state house of assembly. Every member of the party was treated equally and given equal representation. No segment of the party however small was relegated.

He took over the mentle of leadership when insecurity was at it's highest peak in the state. He initiated some far reaching strategies in stemming the tide. Security agencies enjoyed his support without castigating them.

Therefore this honor is well deserved and a mark of appreciation to a patriot and a gentleman.
